Chamling's letter follows the report of the fact finding committee of Sikkim Press Club, which had send four of its members in the affected areas and submitted details of the alleged plight of the Gorkha community there.
Appreciating the steps taken by Assam in restoring and maintaining law and order in the affected areas, Chamling said the hardship and difficulties faced by the Gorkha community, who are bonafide Indian citizens, in Bodoland Territorial Administration (BTA) area need to be addressed.
The Press Club of Sikkim had sent a fact finding team to BTA to assess the situation. The team in its two-day tour had visited the affected areas on May 29 and May 30 and had submitted a detailed report to Chamling.
