Acting on a tip-off, the Rajkot police Special Operation Group (SOG) launched a drive to check licenses of security guards working with various security agencies in the city and found that 14 people purchased rifles from the government factory in Kanpur and got jobs in security agencies.
"We have arrested six people and efforts are on to nab the other eight," Rajkot Police Commissioner H P Singh told reporters here today.
Interrogation has revealed that one Ram Singh based in Uttar Pradesh had purchased 14 rifles from a government weapon factory by submitting fake documents and then sold these rifles to 14 people who got jobs in security agencies, the police said.
