The delicacies, mostly made of date palm jaggery (nalen gur) as well as pure jaggery, were as varied as 'Malai Daab Puli', 'Dhakai Roshpithe', 'Malai Moong Pithe', 'Gokul Pithe'.
This Pithey Puli Festival, with slant on the delicacies from the eastern parts of then undivided Bengal, is aimed at stoking the nostalgia of the veteran gourmet as well as familiarising our present generation of foodies about our great culinary treasures, said an organiser.
"This is aimed at showcasing the eternal sweet daintiness of Bengalis at this time of the year with exquisite delicacies and we are always a hit with all sections of people including celebrities like percussionist Bickram Ghosh," the spokesperson of 6 Ballygunje Place said.
The flagship Bengali restaurant is also holding the festival at its Bangalore facility and is positive with the idea of hosting a similar show in Dhaka in future.
