Small railway stations to be improved in PPP mode

Proposals have come to improve infrastructure and facility in smaller railway stations in the region under the Public Private Participation (PPP) mode, a railway official said today.
The city corporation had come forward to provide Rs.42 lakh to upgrade the infrastructure at Thudiyalur station here and Lakshmi Machine Works would take up development worrks at Periyanaickenpalayam station on the outskirts, Salem Division Manager Shubhranshu told reporters here.
Subhransu, who was here to launch three Automated Ticket Vending Machines (ATVM), said the work on electrification of Coimbatore-Mettupalayam route had been completed and would be made operational in a month's time.
