Laying the foundation of various projects worth Rs 100 crore at Sialjor under Hatgamariah block of West Singhbhum district, Soren said it was not possible for the government to provide jobs to everyone, but people could be more beneficial if they took advantage of the various welfare schemes launched by the government.
"In fact, the people can be self-reliant by availing the benefits of those schemes," he suggested.
Referring the growing Tasar and silk industries, Soren said the segment has enough potential for youths to become self-reliant.
"The state lagged behind in development and no initiative was taken to create employment opportunities during the past 14 years," Soren said while announcing a gift of five gm gold in addition to the existing Rs 15,000 cash to newly wed couples under the Mukhya Mantri Kanyadaan Yojna scheme.
"I will perform much better if I get another opportunity to serve," he said referring to the coming Assembly elections.
Earlier, Soren laid the foundation stone of a medical college and a model college in Sialjor and ITIs in Chakradharpur and Manoharpur. He also inaugurated a new Jagannathpur sub-division office building online and distributed assets and appointment letters among the beneficiaries.
