SP would like to have good relations with Left, BJD, TDP

"Samajwadi Party will try to forge good relationship with various parties including the Left, BJD and TDP which are opposed to the Congress and the BJP," General Secretary Kiranmoy Nanda told PTI here.

Reminded that the SP was providing outside support to the Congress-led UPA and had bailed it out of sticky situations earlier, he said "Our support is issue based.

"We have differences with the government on several issues. We are opposed to the promotion quota bill," Nanda, a party MP who was minister for fisheries in the previous Left Front government, said.

He said that the party would hold its two-day national executive committee meeting in Kolkata from September 12 to discuss a host of national issues.

"Elections in 2014 will surely be on the agenda," Nanda said without elaborating.

Top leaders including party president Mulayam Singh Yadav and UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav would attend the meet.

To a question, he said that Akhilesh Yadav might meet West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

"It will depend on a mutually convenient time," he said.
