Oraon's observation came after BJP MLA Biranchi Narayan joined a question saying the Chhatisgarh government has an (Private Placement Agencies--- Regulation) Act and the Raghubar Das government could study it to make an act in Jharkhand too.
Raising the issue in the House during the question, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha MLA Pradip Yadav referred to a Supreme Court judgement that case of kidnapping should be registered if the missing person is below eighteen years.
In the written reply, Munda said different police stations had got reports of a total of 3,829 children going missing, out of which 2,548 were rescued.
A total of 675 FIRs were registered to trace the remaining missing children.
Another BJP MLA Radhakrishna Kishore questioned the "work culture" of the police department as the cases were still under investigation even though nine years had since passed.
The government said Anti-Human Trafficking Unit are at work in Ranchi, Khunti, Chaibasa, Gumla, Simdega, Dumka, Palamau and Lohardaga.
