The director used the iconic red car in his 1994 film 'Pulp Fiction' and then opted to drive it home.
It was recovered following an ongoing auto theft investigation, reported TMZ.
Law enforcement sources reportedly said that police officers had arrested a man suspected of classic car theft in Southern California. Although he was not arrested for stealing the Chevy in question, the investigation led authorities to the Oakland area, where the automobile was found.
The car's number had been changed.
Police officials are now trying to reach Tarantino to let him know the car has been found - almost two decades after it was stolen.
