IT firm Tech Mahindra today inaugurated its sales office in Vietnam's capital Hanoi to expand its operations in the country where it plans to increase the headcount to 100 in the next 2-3 years.
In a BSE filing, the company said it has been working with customers in Vietnam since 2012 and has seen an uptick in the number of customers, especially in the banking sector, which include a fully state-owned bank and other top banks.
"Vietnam is a key part of our regional strategy and is the sixth country in ASEAN where Tech Mahindra now has a physical presence. The sales office in Hanoi is another step in being closer to our customers. We plan to work with local universities and increase our headcount to 100 in next 2-3 years," Tech Mahindra (enterprise) Head (Asia Pacific, India, Middle East and Africa Rohit Gandhi said.
The company said it has a strong ecosystem in Vietnam consisting of leading product vendors and local partners, developing next-gen solutions for its customers.
"This investment will provide greater economic opportunities to work jointly and build a good knowledge base which can be used in the future to develop IT skills in Vietnam. It will also contribute to forging closer economic relations between India and Vietnam," Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Preeti Saran said.
Shares of the company were trading at Rs 2,879.35 apiece, down 0.08 per cent from its previous close on the BSE.
