One of the two Indians detained in connection with the Bangkok bombing and subsequently released has been given a clean chit by security agencies here while a discreet probe is underway regarding the other person who hails from Kashmir.
The two Indian nationals, whose names have been withheld, were called for questioning by Bangkok police after they were seen on CCTV talking to a foreign suspect wanted in Thailand's deadliest bombing at a temple last month that left 20 people dead and over 100 injured.
The Indian who hails from Bengaluru has been working with a Information Technology service company in Thailand and his record here was found clear, official sources said today.
The youth, who is a divorcee, has been living in Bangkok for sometime and working for a private company which is engaged in providing online solutions to their clients, the sources said.
The probe in connection with the youth who hails from Kashmir was still underway, they said. He had been staying in Bengaluru before moving to Bangkok.
While security agencies did not find anything suspicious about his stay in Bengaluru, reports from Kashmir were still awaited, the sources said.
The two Indians were taken away for questioning during a raid at the Maimuna Garden Home apartment in Minburi on Sunday night. The duo were released yesterday by Bangkok police after everything including their work permit and stay was found in order.
The sources said that the two were roommates and lived next door to a place where police had found bomb-making materials.
A blast went off outside the popular Erawan Brahma Shrine last month in which 20 people were killed and over 100 injured.
So far, Bangkok police has issued arrest warrants for 12 suspects. Two have been arrested, both foreigners, one carrying a Chinese passport.
