In his inaugural address, Marthod exhorted plant scientists the world over to bring about a green revolution.
More than a hundred scientists and researchers from abroad and 700 from different states in the country, including Kerala, are participating in the seminar.
The seminar is being conducted as part of the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Indian Association of Angiosperm Taxanomy (IAAT), organisers of the event, a release from the university said today.
Awards to six young scientists will also be presented on the occasion.
Representatives from the United States, Slovakia, Brazil, Spain, China, Australia, England, Argentina and Ethiopia are the members, the release said.
