Tamil Nadu government today said it was keen to partner with Malaysia in infrastructure sector to meet its goals as stated in the Vision 2023 document launched in 2012.
Chief Minister O Panneerselvam made this point to a visiting Malaysian delegation led by its Special Envoy for Infrastructure to India and South Asia, Dato Seri S Samy Vellu.
Panneerselvam recalled that his predecessor, the late J Jayalalithaa, was 'determined' to upgrade the infrastructure facilities in Tamil Nadu under her Vision 2023 document and it was "the key aim of this government to fulfill that dream."
"We are keen to partner with Malaysia in order to implement this agenda," he said.
Vellu also expressed his keenness to cooperate with Tamil Nadu in upgrading its infrastructure facilities, an official release said.
The Chief Minister, pointing out at the business ties between Malaysia and Tamil Nadu, recalled that a number of firms from that country had participated in the 2015 Global Investors Meet held here under Jayalalithaa.
One of the firms had signed a MoU for setting up a Rs 12,600 crore floating liquid nitrogen storage terminal with a fertilizer producing unit in Thoothukudi, he said and urged the Malaysian government to help the company finalise its investment soon.
