The accused -- Devender and Antaj Ansari even tried to burn the body of the man named Rahim in order to destroy the evidence, Joint Commissioner of Police Ravindra Yadav said.
The semi-burnt body was then noticed by a passerby in a vacant plot on November 27, following which police was informed.
Noting the gravity of the offence, the police was in search of the accused.
"After a tip-off was received the two were apprehended. On sustained interrogation, it was revealed that Antaj was living on rent in the house of Rahim in Uttam Nagar," Yadav said.
"Sudden altercation ensued between them and in a fit of rage, Devender and Antaj hit Rahim on the chest with an iron rod. Then they hit him with a brick and then stabbed him with a kitchen knife. When Rahim died, they wrapped the dead body in a blanket and dumped it in a vacant plot in Mohan Garden, Uttam Nagar," the senior official said.
The duo then cleaned the room to remove blood stains from the walls and floor. On the next day, they again consumed liquor and went to the plot and burned the body to destroy the evidence, Yadav said in a statement.
The accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
