Two farmers commit suicide after crops failed

Two farmers allegedly committed suicide, at two separate places in Uttar Pradesh, after their crops failed, officials said today.
In the first incident, 50-year-old Hariom, a resident of Partapur village in Bahjoi area, committed suicide this morning by immolating himself after his tomato crop was damaged, Incharge of Bahjoi police station Rajveer Singh Yadav said.
Sub divisional magistrate of Chandausi Sanjay Kumar said Hariom was a marginal farmer and planted the crop after taking loan of around Rs 50,000.
The body has been sent for post mortem.
In another incident an elderly farmer committed suicide by jumping infront of a moving train allegedly due to poor production of cane crop in Kalpi area.
Siyaram (70) committed suicide late last night and a suicide note was recovered from his pocket, police said.
In the suicide note the victim mentioned that he was committing suicide due to poor crop and lower production, they said.
District Magistrate Ram Ganesh said that a probe would be conducted into reasons behind suicide by Siyaram and a report would be send to the government.
