A varsity circular to the teaching staff, officers, non-teaching staff and students, blamed that some of the dailies were in the habit of publishing unauthenticated news items related to the University by quoting unauthorized sources, which spoiled the good reputation and image of the University, it said.
Stating that all press releases should be routed through the Registrar by PRO only, it said that if any damage was caused to the name and fame of the university by violation of the instruction it will be viewed very seriously and disciplinary action will be initiated under relevant rules.
If any news is obtained from unauthorised sources, it should be sent to the Registrar for verification before publishing, the circular said.
