UP: Newly elected municipal board chairperson attacked

The newly elected chairperson of Anoopshahr municipal board, Brijesh Sharma, was attacked allegedly by unidentified miscreants at the banks of Ganga river, police said today.
Sharma came under attack last night while he was feeding fishes at a ghat here, SP (rural) VK Tiwari said/
He was immediately rushed to Community Health Centre (CHC) at Anoopshahr, from where he was taken to the Meerut Medical College.
Meanwhile, Sharma's supporters created ruckus at the CHC in which a senior journalist, covering the incident, was reportedly beaten up, police said.
No FIR has been registered in the matter, they added.
