UPSC gets Rs 170 cr budgetary allocation

The government today earmarked Rs 170 crore for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for 2014-15.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, while presenting the budget for the current fiscal, allocated Rs 170.81 crore to the Commission.
The provision is for expenditure on salaries and allowances of the chairman, members and establishment of the UPSC, administrative expenses and for the expenditure related to conduct of the examinations by the Commission.
The UPSC conducts prestigious civil services examination to select officers for Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) among others.
The Commission had got Rs 166.64 crore for 2013-14 and Rs 146.52 crore for 2012-13.
