 "US unemployment rate falls to 7.6 per cent")
Unemployment rate in the United States dropped to 7.6% in March, as against 7.7% the previous month, with addition of some 88,000 jobs, according to latest job figures today.
"Both the number of unemployed persons, at 11.7 million, and the unemployment rate, at 7.6%, were little changed in March," the Department of Labor Statistics said.
Among the major worker groups, unemployment rates for adult men (6.9%), adult women (7.0%), teenagers (24. 2%), whites (6.7%), blacks (13.3%), and Hispanics (9.2%) showed little or no change in March.
Total nonfarm payroll employment edged up in March (88,000).
Over the prior 12 months, employment growth had averaged 169,000 per month, according to figures.
In March, employment increased in healthcare and in professional and business services while retail trade employment declined.
