Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today took the road route for their journey to Gannavaram mandal after their chartered helicopter developed a technical snag.
"After taking part in a series of development programmes in Chilakaluripet in Guntur district, the Union Minister and the Chief Minister were supposed to fly to Atukuru village near Gannavaram mandal for a programme organized by Swarna Bharati Trust, which is run by Venkaiah Naidu's daughter," Guntur Superintendent of Police (Rural) K Narayan told PTI over phone from Chilakaluripet.
However, the chartered helicopter developed a technical snag even before the two VIPs could board it, the SP said.

"We don't exactly know the nature of the problem but when we were told the chopper couldn't fly, we made alternative arrangements for the VIPs to take the road route," he said.
Bulletproof cars were arranged for the duo, who were driven to Gannavaram, about 100 km from Chilakaluripet, on the six-lane National Highway-16, he said.
