Kunal Kailas Parasrampuria, who was walking on the bridge this morning, lost his balance and fell down along with the side walls of the bridge, which also came crashing down.
In an official release issued here today, local MLA Vivek Pandit blamed the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporaiton for the death of the youth.
He said that he had been demanding the corporation to repair the dilapilated bridge for a long time, but it paid no heed, due to which such accidents take place.
He said that Vasai's citizens would launch an agitation if the Maharashtra government and the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation falied to speed up work on the new bridge and also replace the existing old dilapidated bridge with a new one on a priority basis.
