Rajak is posted at Kalyanpur in Samastipur district, around 80 kilometres north from Patna. He is an employee of North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (NBPDCL).
Vigilance Director General (DG) PK Thakur said that the SDO had demanded bribe from one Arvind Kumar Chaudhary, a flour mill owner, for allotting a commercial electricity connection.
"Chaudhary had complained to us that the SDO was demanding Rs 10,000 for providing a new connection. The verification team witnessed him accepting Rs 2,000 as the first installment. A trap team was subsequently constituted and the operation was conducted today morning," said the Vigilance DG.
The arrested SDO has been brought to Patna for further interrogation. He will be produced at Muzaffarpur vigilance court tomorrow and will be forwarded to the central jail there.
