The body of 27-year-old woman Deputy Superintendent of Police, who allegedly committed suicide in her office-cum-residence complex in Tiruchengode town in the district, was handed over to her family after postmortem today.
Police said a 16-page suicide note was received from her residence complex in which she had requested her mother to pardon her for mistake (suicide) and accept her body after postmortem.
In the note, she had stated that it was her third suicide attempt and requested her mother not to create an issue over the suicide, Salem city Police Commissioner A Amalaja said.
Yesterday,Vishnu Priya, Tiruchengode DSP was found hanging from a ceiling fan in a room in her first floor residence in the complex last evening.
The DSP, who was unmarried, had left for her residence around 3 pm for lunch after attending to her duties. As she did not return to the office as usual, a constable went upstairs to look for her and found the house locked from inside with no response to repeated knocks yesterday.
When he peeped inside a window of a room, he found the DSP hanging from the ceiling fan, following which he alerted other colleagues who retrieved the body after breaking open the door.
She had joined the force only in 2013 and Tiruchengode was her first posting.
