WB Assembly adjourns after obituary references

Altogether eight names figured in the list of the deceased whose obituary references were made before the House.

A two-minute silence was observed by the members as a mark of respect to the departed leaders and eminent persons.

The names included Kashinath Mishra (sitting member), Santosh Kumar Roy (Former Minister), Bhabatosh Soren (Former Minister), Nanda Gopal Bhattacharjee (Former Minister), Jagadish Chandra Das (former member), Mohit Chattopadhyay (eminent playright, script writer and poet), Chhabi Bandyopadhyay (legendary kirtan exponent) and India-born Ghazal legend Ustad Mehdi Hassan Khan.

The Speaker, who convened a Business Advisory Committee meeting, before the House began, later told reporters that business of the House till June 25 has been finalised.

The Speaker said that in next six working days in the House till June 25, altogether two Bills and budgetary demands of several departments would come up.

Howrah Improvement Amendment Bill -2012 and the Indian Stamp (West Bengal Amendment) Bill -2010 would be moved in the House on June 18 and June 19 respectively, he said.

The next Business Advisory Committee meeting will be held on June 25 and this session would continue for a month.
