Speaker Biman Banerjee told PTI that several important bills will be taken up in the session.
The session is being held at a time when the Left parties were almost decimated in the Lok Sabha polls in West Bengal and the TMC swept it winning 34 out of the 42 seats.
TMC had also swept the assembly by-elections winning five of the six seats where polls were held along with the parliamentary election.
This raised the strength of the ruling party in the 294-member state assembly to 191.
However, with the recent resignation of the suspended TMC MLA Sikha Mitra from the assembly the party's strength in the assembly was now 190.
