Women and Child Development Ministry has invited suggestions on formats to conduct social audit of Children Care Institutions (CCIs), an official release from the ministry said.
The social audits are done for monitoring and evaluation of the functioning of CCIs.
"The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children)(JJ) Act, 2000 provides for monitoring and evaluation of functioning of CCIs under the Act through social audit," it said.
Under the Act, the Central or state government will monitor and evaluate the implementation of the Act annually by reviewing matters concerning establishment of Board or Committee or Special Juvenile Police Unit (SJPU), functioning of adoption agencies, child friendly administration of juvenile justice and any other matter concerning effective implementation of the JJ Act, it said.
