The unbroken 138-run partnership for the third wicket helped West Indies 'A' reach 181 for two in their second innings when the umpires called for an early tea as rain interrupted the play at 1.04 pm.
Brathwaite, who unfortunately failed to get into the national team inspite of scoring three fifties in the series, was batting on 69, while Deonaraine was on 89.
Brathwaite was in his usual self, batting patiently and striking the ball falling in his hitting zone. Deonaraine, in contrast, was a tad aggressive getting runs at a good pace and keeping the scoreboard ticking.
Deonaraine joined Brathwaite after the fall of captain Kirk Edwards (2) with the West Indies 'A' struggling at 43 for two.
Resuming at an overnight score of 28 for no loss, the West Indians began the day disastrously losing two quick wickets.
The Indian bowlers utilised the morning conditions well to remove the overnight batsmen with some tidy bowling.
Edwards and Powell (14), who have been picked in their national side for the challenging India series next month, would have been eager to get some match practice but could not do so.
