The 22-year-old rapper was arrested on Wednesday on an outstanding warrant after allegedly threatening to shoot a security guard in the face earlier this month in Georgia, reported MTV online.
According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution newspaper, the "Stoner" musician was apprehended by the US Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force as a result of the incident at Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody, Georgia on July 7.
A witness to the argument said the rapper - whose real name is Jeffery Lamar Williams - had been riding around the shopping centre on a two-wheel Hovertrax board with his entourage when he was approached by the guard who said he should not have the Hovertrax in the mall. This made Young Thug get defensive and he then threatened the man.
Meanwhile, the rapper has also been linked to an alleged plan to kill "Lollipop" hitmaker Lil Wayne.
According to HipHopDX website, Young Thug, fellow musician Birdman and a third individual have been named in an indictment stemming from the shooting of Wayne's tour bus back in April, although no official charges are believed to have been made as yet.
