Youth detained for 'misusing' social media to extract info on

A youth has been detained by the Jammu and Kashmir Police for allegedly misusing social media to information about the security forces in Jammu district.
"A youth was detained for misusing social media, with his fake account, and trying to extract vital information related to security forces in Akhnoor belt of Jammu district," a police officer said.
A case of criminal conspiracy, waging war against the country under relevant sections of penal code and IT act has been registered against him, he said, adding further investigation is going on.
He said that general public has been advised that due care and precautions may be taken while chatting on social media.
In an advisory, the police said that some people with fake accounts are operating whatsapp and facebook accounts and trying to extract strategic information pertaining to security forces.
They adopt different means like creating fake Facebook accounts of girls and making friendships with innocent youth, ask for details like OTP, and or create fake accounts of security personnel and offer help for job and in return try to extract vital information related to security forces, officer said.
