Youth held for raping girl on false promise of marriage

A youth was arrested today on the charges of raping a 18-year-old girl at several instances in the last two years on the pretext of marriage, police said.
The accused, Surendra Raigar, a daily wage earner, has been raping the woman, who was her neighbour at Gudhamansingh village in Kalwar area, for last two years on the false promise of marriage, they said.
The girl later became pregnant and gave birth to a baby last month.
The victim lodged an FIR yesterday after her caste's panchayat failed to resolve the dispute when the accused refused to marry her and keep the baby with him, police said.

Further probes are on, they added.
