Decision On Pay Panel Report Soon

The government hopes to announce its decision on the Fifth Pay Commission recommendations soon.

Briefing newspersons here, an official spokesman said that a group of ministers considering report of the empowered committee of secretaries on the recommendations of the pay commission met yesterday to discuss various aspects.

It will hold some more meetings and government hopes to complete the exercise as soon as possible, he added.

It may be recalled that finance minister P Chidambaram had earlier said that a decision on the pay commission would be reached before the monsoon session of Parliament beginning on July 23.
