The new account trading on the Calcutta stock exchange (CSE) began yesterday on a relatively dull note, reflecting the cautious attitude on the part of operators who were looking for a lead. However, select scrips hardened late on higher BSE advices.

Brokers said movements were restricted and on alternate bouts of buying and selling caused values to fluctuate on either side of Thursdays close. The close showed a mixed price pattern. The turnover was low and the undertone steady. The 50-share CSE index finished at 96.01 points, losing marginally by 0.14 points, after moving between 96.40 points and 95.54 points.

In the specified list ACC closed at Rs 1,285, Tisco at Rs 124.50, ITC at Rs 594 and Tata Tea at Rs 410, while Telco finished at Rs 226.20, RIL Rs 155.50, SBI new Rs 241.60, HLL 1,422.50, Bajaj Auto 504 and Balarampur Chini at Rs 91.50. PTI
