Gujarat Flood Relief

Agriculture minister Chaturanan Mishra yesterday announced a central aid of Rs 55 crore as relief for flood victims in Gujarat. Mishra said the amount, to be released immediately, would be paid in addition to the other assistance given under the planning. Meanwhile,rains had claimed four more lives till yesterday, raising the toll in the state to 172. Official sources said 1.6 lakh food packets were dropped in the affected areas and Rs 10.93 lakh dispersed as cash relief to 11,682 people.
