Merchant Bankers Set To Renew Licence Despite Dull Market

Despite the dismal market conditions prevalent over the past two years, almost all merchant banks registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) have opted to renew their licences with the regulatory authority.

Under the Sebi regulations, merchant bankers are required to renew their licences every three years.

Senior Sebi officials said the merchant banking industry has managed to withstand the rot, and out of a total of 1,1,63 bankers registered with Sebi a near 100 per cent
