Despite the dismal market conditions prevalent over the past two years, almost all merchant banks registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) have opted to renew their licences with the regulatory authority.

Under the Sebi regulations, merchant bankers are required to renew their licences every three years.
