India will not import wheat in the "foreseeable future" because it has comfortable stocks, a senior food ministry official said on Thursday."There is no question of any imports in the foreseeable future, food secretary B K Taimni said. We are quite comfortable with stocks, he added. According to latest official reports, wheat stocks were put at 8.03 million tonne on November 1, 1997, compared with 9.72 million a year earlier.(Reuters)
