The new rules on segment-wise disclosure of corporate performance will be a boon to investors. At present, investors have no way of judging which activities of their companies are profitable and which are not. Company managements sometimes diversify in order to build their own little empires, thus compromising shareholder value. Yet in the absence of information about these diversifications, shareholders don
