People must understand, we do not have a cookie-cutter approach. Our production is limited to 20,000 watches and each piece enjoys an individuality. If you own a Piaget, nobody else can have the same one as you. As the area manager for Asia, Middle East and Russia, Sarkissian is now off to meet the King of Siam.

Sarkissian reveals that, strangely enough, the most expensive Piaget did not go to the Sultan of Brunei. Instead, an anonymous Chinese tycoon discreetly picked up a blue diamond wrist watch for a whopping $ 3 million.

As sole distributor for Piaget in India, the Gazelle Trading Co Pvt Ltd, will import the watches and sell them

at speciality boutiques. Both Piaget and its Indian partner will absorb the 70 per cent import duties to ensure that local retail prices are competitive vis-a-vis global prices.

Sarkissian who loves travelling and skiing like any good Swiss is also something of a linguist. This graduate from the Boston Wallace E Carroll School of Management is now hoping to add Hindi to the French, Italian, German and English he speaks fluently. The perfect salesman, Sarkissian has made the company motto his own: Always do better than required.
