Bangalore`s annual IT event to don new garb this year

Rebranded as BangaloreIT.biz focus to be B2B.

With the last two editions of Karnataka’s premier IT event BangaloreIT.in witnessing limited success, the latest edition of the event is set for an image makeover.

The organisers of the event including Government of Karnataka and STPI Bangalore, have announced to re-brand the event as BangaloreIT.biz, in its eleventh edition this year.

The three-day event to be inaugurated on November 6 this year, will focus on creating meaningful B2B (Business to Business) platform for the industry to promote partnerships and forge alliances with leading players in domestic and international markets, according to organisers.

Ashok Kumar C Manoli, principal secretary to Department of IT, BT and S&T, Karnataka, said, “Over the last 15 years, Bangalore has been the cynosure for outsourced IT services, product R&D and software development in India for a host of domestic and international companies. We have repositioned the event as BangaloreIT.biz from this year, with focus on B2B. This will give the SMB and start-ups the opportunity and environment to interact with participants and exhibitors for business and collaborations.”

In the wake of complains from various quarters, the organisers are shifting the venue of the event to Palace Grounds within the city. This has been done keeping in mind the traffic conditions due to the infrastructure developments happening in Bangalore, said the IT secretary.

Last year, BangaloreIT.in which happened at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), around 20 kms from the city, failed to attract large crowd.

The organisers are have roped in the India Semiconductor Association and Manufacturer’s Association for information technology to provide more depth to the event. Leading ICT countries including US, Germany, Japan, Australia, Singapore and Latin American countries like Mexico and Chile have confirmed their participation.

The conference will include emerging opportunities for ICT in green technologies, IT manufacturing, e-security, e-governance, healthcare, education and a round-table discussion on the Rural IT Policy. The event will also take up two unique subjects for discussions - IT in the nation’s internal security and the role of IT in sports.
