The tender is the second largest Request for Proposal (RFP) in the country after Reliance Communications.
The network will be built over the next four years, Datacom managing director Ravi Sharma told Business Standard. "We will commence the rollout of the network by August, while the services would be commenced by the end of this year," Sharma said.
The company issued the RFP only for active infrastructure (electronics and machinery), he added.
Reliance Communications called for bids in March to install 100 million GSM lines and the state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL) wanted to set up 45 million GSM lines.
