Telecom and media major Hinduja TMT said it has bagged a contract from a large US health insurance company, initially for three years.

This is the second health insurance client of HTMT from the US and the company believes that it received the contract mainly due to the referral from its existing customer, which is another big firm from the healthcare sector.

The new assignment involves both transaction processing and client contact center work in the healthcare BPO business.

Training and pilot project with about 80 transaction processors in three modules have commenced on Jan uary 12, a company release said.

The business has the potential to grow similar to that of the existing client for whom 600 processors are already working and HTMT is in the process of setting up a high-end call centre employing medical doctors, the release said.

"Our existing domain expertise coupled with realisation of high quality performance metrics in the health insurance sector was a major factor that made HTMT the preferred vendor," Solomon Raj, vice chairman, HTMT, said.

HTMT has recently taken on lease premises admeasuring 80,000 sq ft for building a 1400-seat centre at Bangalore to meet the requirements of its customers.

This is in addition to the existing capacity of 1,050 seat, 52,000 sq ft offshore development centre 'HTMT House' at Bangalore, which is now fully occupied.

HTMT has been voted as the second best employee-friendly company in the recent Dataquest-IDC BPO Employee Satisfaction Survey, next only to GE Capital, the release said.

As per revenue, HTMT is ranked among the top 10 ITES players in India, employing over 1,800 people.
