Oracle India Private Limited opened its office here on Tuesday.

Addressing mediapersons, Anup Varma, regional sales director (mid-market technology), Oracle India, said that the move was part of the company's strategy to strengthen its presence in non-metro cities.

"We also have plans to set up an office in Vijayawada. By the end of May, we are planning to expand to 15 tier-II cities like Pune, Jaipur, Indore and Lucknow," he said.

Over the years, the company had only six offices in major metros including Hyderabad in the country.

"The non-metro cities are where India is experiencing some of the highest economic growth rates. So, we are focusing on these cities and are expecting a good share in revenues from them," he said.

Oracle India currently has 6,500 customers and 275 partners (software solution companies) across the country. The company sees a significant increase in their numbers in the coming years following its expansion plans in non-metro cities.
