Philips Innovation Campus (PIC), a division of Philips Electronics India Limited that caters to the company's global software requirement, is developing next generation technologies targeting the healthcare sector in India. Ever since its established in India (Bangalore) in 1996, the centre had been in the forefront of technology innovation for the products Philips sells in the global market.
PIC, which employs about 1,400 engineers, works on developing software for next generation of medical systems including X-ray, ultrasound, magnetic resonance, computed tomography, radiation oncology and resuscitation products. The company has close to 600 engineers who work on developing healthcare systems for global and Indian markets.
“PIC has a talented pool of engineers and scientists, who are able to develop top of the line technologies. At this point in time, our focus would be on delivering products and solutions of the highest quality, especially in healthcare, but with an increased focus on India,” PIC's new CEO Wido Menhardt said.
He said traditionally healthcare had been a recession-proof industry and the demand for such solutions would be more in countries like India.
On PIC’s other initiatives, Menhardt said the centre had commenced development activity for Philips lighting. As a part of this, PIC would develop a range of digital lighting solutions for global markets.
