US based leading software and technology services company SunGard has developed a new global technology solution centre in Pune.
The centers in Pune are in addition to SunGard Global Solution Centers in Bangalore, Shanghai and Tunis. SunGard started its operations in Pune and Bangalore in 1993, and has grown to an employee strength of 3,600 in India. It has also planned to recruit 1000 more people in the next 18 months. The new SunGard Global Solution Center in Pune will house 2,000 employees. These employees are focused on developing, deploying and supporting SunGard's large and comprehensive portfolio of solutions that enable mission critical operations of financial services enterprises worldwide.
Talking to Business Standard, Mack Gill, president, Global Technology services, SunGard said, "Pune facility is aimed to provide our employees a high quality work environment. Through our Global Solution Centers, SunGard is investing to scale up its worldwide technology and operational backbone and India is a key part of our strategy with a tremendous potential for growth."
He added, "We have a different approach for India. Worldwide, this is the largest centre of Sungard. We are developing solutions for infrastructure, disaster recovery sectors, managed services, public sector financial services and we are investing more in research and development. We are also looking for acquisitions in the respective sectors in India. Sungard is eyeing the education business sector in India. It has planned to tie up with around 600 universities for providing technology solutions."
