ICG apprehends five-man crew fishing vessel engaged in illegal diesel smuggling

Indian Coast Guard (ICG) apprehended a five-man crew fishing vessel ‘Jay Malhar’ engaged in illegal diesel smuggling off the Maharashtra coast on May 16. Five tonnes of unaccounted diesel valued approx Rs 27 lakhs, concealed in fish hold along with small quantity of banned narcotic substance, was seized upon search. Further investigation revealed that the crew had already sold 5,000 litres of fuel to fishermen at sea: Ministry of Defence

Biden rejects Republican request to release audio of special counsel

US President Joe Biden rejected a demand by House Republicans to turn over the audio recording of his interview with the special counsel who investigated his handling of classified documents. The Justice Department and White House counsel said in letters to two Republican House committee chairmen that Biden was asserting executive privilege over the recordings.
 
Special Counsel Robert Hur interviewed the president extensively for his investigation into Biden's retention of classified records.
 
In a nearly 350-page report released in February, Hur said criminal charges against Biden were not warranted.

Lightning strikes kill 11 in West Bengal's Malda district: Police

At least 11 people were killed and two others injured in lightning strikes at various places across West Bengal's Malda district on Thursday, police said. Two among the deceased were minors, both residents of Manikchak police station area, while three hailed from Sahapur under the jurisdiction of Malda police station, police added. Two others were from Adina under Gajol police station and Balupur under Ratua police station. A couple died in Harishchandrapur when they were working in the fields. The rest were residents of Englishbazar and Manikchak police station areas.

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal files Police complaint, says Delhi Police Sources

Senior Delhi Police official has left the residence of AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal, after around four hours. She was assaulted by Bibhav Kumar, former PS of CM Arvind Kejriwal.
 
Earlier, Delhi BJP Mahila Morcha president Richa Pandey Mishra writes to Swati Maliwal. The letter reads, "...We humbly request you to give complete details of this incident to the Police so that stringent action can be taken against the accused. Judicial procedure is essential to ensure that such incidents do not recur..."
 
“It is shocking that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has not spoken a work about his party MP Swati Maliwal, who was misbehaved with and beaten up in CM’s residence. He has not acted or responded or spoken about it. Today, I am being told that in Uttar Pradesh, he was seen walking around with the accused. It’s utterly shameful,” said Sitharaman on the alleged assault on AAP MP Swati Maliwal at the residence of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.

Vodafone Idea Q4 results: Consolidated loss widens to Rs 7,675 crore; Arpu at Rs 146

Vodafone Idea on Thursday reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 7,675 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2024, which was up from Rs 6,419 crore reported by the company in the year-ago period. Revenue from operations was reported at Rs 10,607 crore, which was up from Rs 10,532 crore reported in the corresponding quarter of the last financial year.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has attached seven immovable properties of a terrorist belonging to the banned Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist organisation.  Sartaj Ahmed Mantoo’s properties, including land measuring 19 Marlas & 84 Sq ft at Kisarigam in Pulwama district of Kashmir, were attached on Wednesday under Section 33 (1) of UA (P) Act, 1967, on the orders of NIA Special Court, Jammu.
