The short-term trend remains positive, as the index continues to remain above critical moving average. After a sharp rally, this sideways movement appears to be a healthy consolidation, suggesting the market is catching its breath before the next move.

As long as the index stays above the crucial support level of 24,400, the bulls are likely to maintain their grip. In the near term, the index might move towards the 24,850–25,000 range. However, a drop below 24,400 could delay this upward trajectory and lead to further consolidation.

Stock Market LIVE Updates: India's wholesale price index (WPI)-based inflation saw a significant drop to 0.85 per cent in April 2025, down from 2.05 per cent in March, according to Commerce Ministry data released on Wednesday. 

This sharp decline was primarily driven by lower prices in the fuel & power and primary articles sectors, while the manufacturing sector remained relatively stable. The WPI, which measures the average price change of bulk goods, is a key indicator of inflation at the producer level, reflecting supply and demand trends in agriculture, mining, and manufacturing. 
 

In April, the primary articles group, holding a 22.62 per cent weight in the WPI, experienced a 0.11 per cent price decrease compared to March and a 1.44 per cent drop over the past year. READ MORE
