Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany has been discharged from the hospital, his assistant Aaron Danks confirmed, five days after collapsing during a training session. The 40-year-old Kompany was observing a practice session for the club's reserve team when the incident occurred last Friday. Speaking after Bayern's 6-1 win over Magdeburg in the German Cup, Danks said there was "no timeline" on when Kompany might be back at work. "It's obviously a really positive step in his road to recovery," Danks said of Kompany leaving the hospital. "He gets to settle back at home now, be closer to his family, be closer to his home comforts but it's still really important that he takes his rest and he recovers. "So there's no timescale on it - nothing that I've been told. Our doctors will continue to work closely with Vince and at the right moment, he will be back with us once he is fit and healthy to do that. And we look forward to that day." A goal and an assist from Harry Kane wasn't enough for Bayern Munich to beat Arsenal. Kane's England teammate Declan Rice scored a second-half equalizer for last season's runner-up to secure a 2-2 draw at six-time winner Bayern in a matchup of two European heavyweights in the Champions League on Wednesday. Rice traded passes with Viktor Gyokeres before finding the target eight minutes from time. Kane converted a penalty earlier in the second half to increase his total to 16 goals in 23 career matches against Arsenal, having scored every season against the London club from 2014-15 to 2023-24 - mostly with Tottenham. Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany has a viral infection which is affecting his legs and is doubtful to attend Wednesday's Champions League home game against Arsenal. Assistant coach Aaron Danks said Tuesday that Kompany might need three more days to recover, as he spent the day at home. "It has affected his legs at times and he's felt some pain," Danks said as he took Kompany's place at Bayern's pre-game news conference. "It's just a virus. The doctors, the experts, know way more than I do. The most important thing we've just encouraged is that he rests, he takes the time he needs, whatever that may be, however long that may be. "Whether that's tomorrow or whether that's two, three days' time, I don't know at this moment. Getting Vince to rest is a challenge." Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala said he's dealing with a neurological issue but doing well despite collapsing during a preseason game Tuesday at Heidenheim, three days after a similar incident against Leipzig. The 23-year-old Germany international went down shortly after entering Tuesday's friendly as a substitute in the second half. Players from both teams made a circle around Musiala as he received medical treatment. He was then helped as he walked off the pitch. Musiala had collapsed Saturday during a friendly against Leipzig. German news agency DPA reported he had left the field on his own but still appeared dazed. After Tuesday's game, Musiala posted a message on his Instagram account, explaining that he had been diagnosed with temporary "but easily treatable absence seizures" caused by a neurological problem. Bayern Munich signed Germany left back Nathaniel "Nene" Brown from Bundesliga rival Eintracht Frankfurt for a reported fee of 55 million euros ($63 million) on Friday. The Bavarian powerhouse said the 23-year-old Brown had signed a contract through June 2031. "He made his mark at the World Cup and showed why we've been looking at him for a while. He'll expand our options in both defense and midfield," Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl said. Born in Bavaria to a German mother and American father, Brown could have played for the United States. He was a key part of the Germany Under-21 team which lost the European Championship final to England last year and said he wanted to stay with Germany. He was first choice at left back for the World Cup, and one of the few players to emerge from the tournament with their reputations enhanced after Germany's shock exit to Paraguay in the first knockout game. Manuel Neuer has extended his contract at Bayern Munich for another year, keeping the 40-year-old goalkeeping great at the German champion as he mentors his long-term successor. Neuer will head into another season at Bayern, 15 years since joining the club, and remains the captain and first-choice goalkeeper after impressive performances in the Champions League despite fitness issues this season. Neuer has played 597 times for Bayern and is set to become the fifth player in club history to hit the 600 mark. Backup Jonas Urbig is considered Neuer's long-term successor and has increasingly been given games this season. Neuer's role includes mentoring Urbig. Courtois was substituted at halftime of Madrid's Champions League game at Manchester City on Tuesday. Madrid won 2-1 and the round-of-16 tie by 5-1 on aggregate. The club on Thursday did not say how long its top goalkeeper would be out. Andriy Lunin will take his place.
