Royal Enfield's move to Andhra Pradesh comes as premium motorcycles, exports, and multi-location manufacturing become bigger priorities for auto makers

Mid-size motorcycle maker Royal Enfield on Friday reported a 31 per cent rise in total sales at 1,13,164 units in April 2026 as compared to 86,559 units sold in the same month last year. Domestic sales were at 1,04,129 units as against 76,002 units in April 2025, up 37 per cent, Royal Enfield, a part of Eicher Motors group, said in a statement. However, exports were down 14 per cent at 9,035 units last month as compared to 10,557 units in April 2025, it added. "We have started the new financial year with strong momentum, setting the tone for an exciting and important year ahead. Eicher Motors Ltd on Tuesday said its subsidiary VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd has received a GST demand of Rs 192.36 crore, along with a penalty, in a matter related to delay in reporting credit notes for the financial year 2017-18 . In July this year VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd (VECV) received Show Cause Notice (SCN) from the Commissioner, CGST & Central Excise, Ujjain Commissionerate, Madhya Pradesh alleging contraventions of the provisions of CGST Act, 2017 pertaining to FY 2017-18 and involving GST amount of Rs 168.19 crore and equivalent amount of penalty, Eicher Motors said in a regulatory filing.
