The alleged suicide by a senior IPS officer and busting of a "white-collar" terror module linked to the Delhi car blast were among the key highlights in the year 2025 which also brought more electoral success for the ruling BJP in Haryana. The BJP, after its third consecutive win in the October 2024 assembly polls, maintained its winning momentum sweeping the civic polls in March 2025 while the Congress, which was looking to turn around its electoral fortunes, drew a blank. In November, the busting of a terror module hogged the headlines for weeks and prompted authorities to put Haryana on maximum alert. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday directed that all government buildings like schools, colleges, hospitals, offices, etc, be equipped with rooftop solar systems to accelerate the state's transition towards clean and green energy. He was chairing a high-level review meeting on the budget announcements of the power sector at the civil secretariat here, according to an official statement. A Delhi court on Monday sent Al Falah University founder Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui to 14-day judicial custody in a terror-linked money laundering case. Siddiqui had been sent to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody for 13 days on November 19. On Monday, he was produced before Additional Sessions Judge Sheetal Chaudhary Pradhan, who sent him to judicial custody till December 15. During the hearing, the ED counsel briefly argued that it was premature to produce him before the court since the 13-day custody would end at 1 am on Tuesday, technically making Monday the 12th day of his custody. Meanwhile, an application was moved by Siddiqui's counsel seeking access to prescribed medication and spectacles during the custody period. The judge allowed the request. ED officials handed over Siddiqui's medical prescription to the court, which directed jail authorities to ensure that he continued to receive the prescribed treatment. As many as 63,073 challans have been issued for drunk driving in Haryana so far this year, with Gurugram accounting for nearly 25,000 of them, officials said on Wednesday. According to an official statement, the district-wise data shows the highest number of challans from January 1 till November 24 was issued in Gurugram at 24,972, followed by Faridabad (7,402), Karnal (4,851), Panchkula (4,180), and Jind (3,109). Following instructions issued by the Haryana Police, regular special drives are being conducted across all districts of the state, it said. "The purpose of these drives is not only to curb drunken driving but also to strictly monitor lane driving, noise pollution, and misuse of red-blue lights. Stubble burning incidents in Delhi-NCR, Punjab and Haryana have reduced this year due to government support for farm machinery and other measures, Agriculture Secretary Devesh Chaturvedi said on Monday. The government has provided farmers with relevant equipment and necessary interventions to tackle the problem, Chaturvedi told reporters on the sidelines of an event. "Certainly...because of the policy of providing machineries and in-situ and ex-situ measures, the incidents of stubble burning in Delhi-NCR, Punjab and Haryana have reduced," he said. There have hardly been incidents of stubble burning in the last ten days, he said. Stubble burning by farmers in northern India after harvesting has been a major contributor to severe air pollution in Delhi and surrounding areas during winter months. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) detected 29 violations of pollution-control norms, including five at construction and demolition (C&D) sites, during a large-scale enforcement drive in Haryana's Sonipat on Friday, according to a statement. Twenty flying squad teams were deployed across conforming and non-conforming industrial clusters as well as C&D sites in the district on November 21 as part of the CAQM's intensified on-ground monitoring during winter months, according to the official statement issued by the Union environment ministry. The drive was carried out with the support of the district administration, including deputy commissioners, duty magistrates and police personnel, to ensure "smooth operations", the ministry said. Of the 101 sites inspected, 55 were in non-conforming areas where 21 violations were flagged, including two at C&D sites. Under the scanner after the Delhi blast, Al Falah University in Haryana's Faridabad on Wednesday said it has only a professional association with the two of its doctors arrested in connection with the incident and is anguished by the unfortunate developments. While distancing itself from the terror-linked doctors, the University in a statement asserted that it is a responsible institution and stands in solidarity with the nation. "We are deeply saddened and anguished by the unfortunate developments that took place and condemn the same. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the innocent people affected by these distressing events," a statement issued by University Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr.) Bhupinder Kaur Anand said. "We have also learnt that two of our doctors have been detained by the investigating agencies.We wish to make it clear that the University has no connection with the said persons apart from them being working in their official capacities with the University," she said.
Al-Falah university and its 76-acre sprawling campus the Muslim-dominated Dhauj village in Haryana's Faridabad district has come under the scanner following the arrest of three doctors in connection with the "white-collar terror module" and the high-intensity explosion near Delhi's Red Fort. With educated individuals found to be "acting at the behest of Pakistan-backed handlers", investigators are scrutinising how the university turned into a safe haven for such individuals. According to the university website, it was established by the Haryana Legislative Assembly under the Haryana Private Universities Act. It started as an engineering college in 1997. Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday detained a preacher from Mewat in Haryana in connection with the 'white collar' terror module operating from a university in Faridabad, officials said. Maulvi Ishtiyaq, who has been brought to Srinagar, was staying in a rented house within the Al Falah university complex in Faridabad. It was from his home that police had recovered more than 2,500 kg of ammonium nitrate, potassium chlorate and sulphur, the officials said. He is likely to be placed under arrest. Findings of the initial probe into the blast near the Red Fort suggest it may have been "accidentally triggered" while a hastily assembled explosive device was being transported, following the busting of an inter-state terror module, officials said on Tuesday. Investigators have zeroed in on a Pulwama-based doctor, Umar Nabi, who was driving the car used in the explosion that claimed 12 lives, and had alleged links to the terror module busted with the recovery of explosives mainly from neighbouring Faridabad in Haryana. On Tuesday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police took a DNA sample from Nabi's mother to establish the relation. Sources said that the explosion was triggered in panic and desperation after raids by the security agencies across multiple locations in Delhi-NCR and Pulwama, J-K, to nab suspects believed to be part of the terror module. The Red Fort blast is ultimately linked to the finding of posters in Srinagar which led to an FIR on October 19, according to a senior security source. The posters were found in an area under the Naugaum police post in the Jammu and Kashmir summer capital. Investigation into the incident led to the arrest of Maulvi Irfan Ahmed Waghe from Shopian and Zameer Ahmed from Wakura, Ganderbal, between October 20 and October 27. On November 5, Dr Adeel was apprehended from Saharanpur, and on November 7, an AK-56 rifle with ammunition was seized at Anantnag hospital, the source said. On November 8, more guns, pistols, and gunpowder were seized from Al-Falah Medical College in Haryana's Faridabad.
