Transrail Lighting on Tuesday reported an 18 per cent year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 110 crore in December quarter, pushed by higher revenues from key transmission and distribution business. It had posted a net profit of Rs 91 crore in the October-December period of preceding financial year, the company said in an exchange filing. The company's revenues from operations also rose to 1,796 crore from Rs 1,358 crore in the third quarter a year ago, registering a 32 per cent y-o-y growth. "During Q3 FY26, execution remained strong and the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) segment continued to anchor the company's overall growth momentum," Transrail said. The company said it secured fresh orders worth Rs 1,395 crore during the quarter, further strengthening the execution pipeline. In April-December, the net profit jumped 53 per cent to Rs 307 crore from Rs 200 crore in the nine month period of the preceding fiscal. The revenues from operations surged to over Rs .
Infrastructure major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) on Monday said its power transmission and distribution vertical has bagged 'large' grid infrastructure orders in the Middle East. According to the company's project classification, a 'large' order is worth Rs 2,500 crore to Rs 5,000 crore. The 400kV super grid interconnection linking the electricity networks of GCC member states has helped in efficient utilization of generation capacity and has improved the overall grid resilience, the company said in a regulatory filing. Currently, the network of the Sultanate of Oman is connected to this interconnection through UAE's grid at 220kV. Now a direct interconnection is being established at 400 kV level for which a 400 kV substation in UAE is crucial, the company added. L&T PT&D has won an order to engineer, procure and construct this 400 kV Substation, the filing said. Electricity supply in the country may get affected on July 9 as over 27 lakh power workers will go on a nationwide strike against the government's decision to privatise two distribution companies (discoms) in Uttar Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to privatise Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd (PVVNL) and Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd (DVVNL), which alone cover 42 of 75 districts of the state, Shailendra Dubey, Chairman of All India Power Engineers' Federation (AIPEF), said. Dubey alleged that Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd and some big officials of the government are in collusion with selected private houses. Power distribution utilities (discoms) legacy dues have come down by a whopping 82 per cent in over two years to Rs 24,684 crore this month, Parliament was informed on Thursday. Around 13 states reported arrears amounting to Rs 1,39,947 crore as of June 3, 2022, and rescheduled them into EMIs (equated monthly installments), Minister of State for Power Shripad Naik said in a written reply to Rajya Sabha. The minister said after the payment of 29 EMIs by the distribution utilities, including pre-payment of legacy dues by some utilities, the outstanding dues have reduced to Rs 24,684 crore as of December 6, 2024. The discoms have paid Rs 1,15,263 crore outstanding since June 2022, he added.
