Hero MotoCorp on Tuesday reported 12 per cent rise in dispatches at 5,70,068 units in May 2026. In the year-ago period, the sales stood at 5,07,701 units. The world's largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters stated that the domestic retail momentum also remained robust during the month, with over 4.96 lakh registrations, except for Telangana, based on data from VAHAN portal. "The company's overall domestic motorcycle and scooter business sustained strong momentum in May 2026, registering robust nearly 10 per cent dispatch growth compared to the corresponding period last year," Hero MotoCorp stated. The company's global business recorded 78 per cent growth with dispatches of 33,284 units. According to Hero MotoCorp, strong demand across its international markets, supported by an expanding premium product portfolio and focused market expansions, continued to drive solid growth momentum.
The domestic two-wheeler segment will continue on growth path in the current fiscal on the back of factors like normal rainfall and uptick in rural demand, according to TVS Motor Chairman Ralf Speth. Speaking at the company's annual general meeting (AGM), he noted that in partnership with BMW Motorrad, TVS will be working on design and development of additional new vehicles for the global markets. "With a young, intelligent, thriving workforce the nation is well-positioned to leverage its advantages. I am also convinced that India can benefit from major shifts in the geo-political, geo-economic, environmental and social landscape. India can go its own way. India can overtake," Speth stated. The country's largest two-wheeler maker, Hero MotoCorp, has set a target to achieve 30 per cent of its sales on digital platforms by 2030. The company, which sold 54 lakh units of motorcycles and scooters in the last fiscal year, is also looking to have 30 per cent women workforce in the organisation by 2030. "We have set an ambitious goal of achieving 30 per cent sales through digital channels by the year 2030," Hero MotoCorp Executive Chairman Pawan Munjal said in the company's annual report for 2022-23. The company, which produced 5.3 million units in 2022-23, has augmented user interface of digital channels, which have emerged as a preferred destination for customers' pre- and post-purchase needs, he told shareholders. Munjal said the company has invested significantly in upgrading its information technology systems, adopting advanced analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, and in implementing automation technologies.
