Automotive electronics maker Bosch has launched its electric drives manufacturing facility in Chennai.
The plant, with an investment of Rs 35 crore, has a capacity to manufacture 2.2 million window systems, 7,00,000 wiper systems and 500,000 thermal parts systems per annum. The company expects to start with around 30 per cent localisation in the initial stage.
It is planning to expand its customer base and product offerings in the Indian market. For this, it is in talks with some of the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

Speaking at the event, Manfred Baden, executive vice-president, Bosch said the company was looking at offering power steering products to customers in India.
Besides, it is in talks with various automobile firms to optimise the utilisation of its production capacity. It would also increase its product selling associates from the current 265 to 350 in the next three years.
